Tantalum containing ores, concentrates, and slags are processed at our Boyertown (USA) plant into a potassium fluorotantalate intermediate. At Boyertown, this intermediate is converted to capacitor-grade tantalum powder and many forms of metallurgical products. At our Aizu (Japan) site, it is converted to capacitor-grade tantalum powder.

At each step of the manufacturing process, outlined in the attached file, the material is subjected to stringent chemical, physical and/or electrical tests to insure product quality and lot-to-lot consistency. We use SPC techniques to track and monitor our process capability and have achieved ISO 9002 qualification.
