Cabot's carbon black is a raw material largely used as a friction modifier in the manufacture of brake and clutch linings. Its basic properties add value to brake pads in automotive, trucking and railcar applications by providing thermal conductivity that helps dissipate the heat generated in brake applications. Carbon black also reinforces friction materials, helping to keep their integrity and thus increasing their usage life
The benefits of carbon blacks:
In formulations for brake and clutch linings, carbon blacks are often used to provide friction stability, heat dissipation, a uniform color, to increase wear resistance and improve noise reduction.
