For years, formulators of high color carbon black coatings in polar and waterborne formulations balanced color performance with dispersing and stabilizing the pigments in formulation. Waterborne high color black coatings could be created only by using large amounts of dispersants and by milling for long periods of time. Cabot's latest carbon black, Emperor 1800, breaks this tradeoff between color performance and ease of dispersion in polar formulations. Benefits of Emperor 1800 include best-in-class color performance, significantly reduced milling time, significantly reduced dispersion aid requirements, higher pigment to binder ratios and better overall shelf stability.

This video dramatically demonstrates the results that can be achieved by Emperor 1800:

Additional benefits of Emperor 1800:

  • Superior color performance
  • Best in class processability
  • Lower overall formulation costs
