Cabot has developed a range of XC-type conductive blacks to help semi-conductive compound formulators achieve a long cable life. These XC-type conductive blacks, VULCAN® XC72, VULCAN XC500 and VULCAN XC200 are Cabot's response to the increasing need for superior products in semi-conductive power cable applications: fully-bonded and strippable shields. Each grade meets a particular performance attribute for semi-conductive compound manufacturers.
For fully-bonded shields, the following five key performance criteria are compared (the conductivity performance fo the fully-bonded shield is compared at equal black loading, the other performance criteria being compared at equal conductivity levels):
- conductivity
- surface smoothness
- sulfur impurities
- ionic impurities
- dispersability
For strippable shields, the star diagram product selector compares the following criteria:
- strippability
- surface smoothness
- sulfur impurities
- ionic impurities
- dispersability
To help you understand the performance of these products, we have developed an animated product selector, which you can launch using the link below. Performance improves from chart center. Click on the grade names to compare.
