CAB-O-SIL® TS-720 Fumed Silica in Epoxy Adhesives
Type: Product Literature
Product Line: Silicas and Aluminas

Abstract:
A significant challenge for the adhesive formulator is to maintain the adhesive's rheological performance between the time it is manufactured and the time it is applied. Loss of viscosity and sag resistance, the key requirements for an adhesive, can result in:
- Poor mixing between epoxy resin and curative in two-component systems resulting in sub-optimal curing of adhesive and loss of adhesion strength
- Inaccurate dispensing of the adhesive
- Unstable bead dimension
- Sagging on vertical and high angle surfaces
To prevent these problems, a formulator must select a rheology modifier, such as CAB-O-SIL TS-720 fumed silica, to achieve the same demanding performance for the day of manufacture to the day of use.
