What is a Detector?


Detectors are devices used to activate covert taggants in controlled products and detect their presence (determine if a product is genuine or authorized). A single detector can be used to differentiate multiple taggants, giving the customer a simple means of controlling multiple products simultaneously.
What is a Security Feature?


A Security feature is a device that is integrated into a document to authenticate it and protect it from being counterfeited.  Typically, several features are incorporated in a single document to add complexity and a significant barrier to counterfeiters. Security features are usually categorized as overt, covert or forensic. Overt:  A security device that can be detected and recognized using only human senses: Holograms, Watermarks, Intaglio Texture,  Threads in Paper, Thermochromics, Photochromics, etc. Covert:  A security device that is detectable only when interrogated by a special detection device: Phosphors, Energy Absorbers, Magnetics, Microtext, RFID, etc. Forensic:  A security device that is detectable only using laboratory analysis by trained specialists.
