Thus, to stay competitive, and provide the most value to partners, we are strongly driven to engage and exploit external innovations.

Our Approach

We begin our process by looking at trends and defining areas where Cabot's competencies can add value. We then develop an understanding of the technological solutions that are required to realize the value. By pursuing the appropriate combination of internally and externally developed technologies and applications, we can achieve this value. We use several mechanisms to understand external technologies, such as our Fine Particle Network and Particle Platform Management. 

Fine Particle Network

Cabot has a significant history of engaging small companies through its Fine Particle Network (FPN). The principle of the FPN is that smaller companies often benefit from a larger partner like Cabot that can provide other partners the confidence to work with them. In turn, Cabot benefits from insight and access to external technologies. Our goal is to provide partners with access to particle technology solutions no matter where they are invented.
