The CEC process has enabled a new class of materials with superior dispersion characteristics. In this paper, we have illustrated how this superior dispersion enables better intrinsic rubber properties and improved material performance. Further, it appears that CEC materials provide these benefits without the need to trade off one benefit for another, as is often the case in rubber formulation.

This has been demonstrated in pneumatic tires, and currently is being tested in automotive/anti-vibration, mining, and defense applications. We recognize that only field and in-use application testing can clearly demonstrate the efficacy of these materials in these other applications, and this work is ongoing. Nonetheless, the improvement of CEC materials vs. dry mix materials is consistently demonstrated over a wide variety of well-known performance and material properties tests, and should translate to many other rubber applications beyond pneumatic tires.
