Abstract:

CAB-O-SIL® TG-818F is a hexamethyldisilizane treated fumed silica which has been coated with a silicone oil. The hexamethyldisilizane replaces most surface silanols with trimethylsilyl groups which significantly increases hydrophobicity and reduces moisture adsorption. Under very high humidity conditions, the few remaining silanol groups can adsorb moisture. The silicone oil covers the remaining silanols further decreasing moisture adsorption.
