Jacketing provides power and telecommunication cables with a protective layer against mechanical shocks, chemicals, oils, weathering exposure and waterproofing properties. Cabot offers a range of masterbatches for cable jacketing applications. These products offer excellent coloration performance, weathering characteristics and thermal stabilization, and help manufacturers process cable jacketing smoothly.
Semi-conductive carbon black compounds also are used in the manufacture of underground power cables. The semicon compound functions as a shield to smooth out any sharp edges on the conductor surface and eliminates any electrical field stresses by homogenizing the electrical field around the conductor. Our range of XC-type conductive blacks has been developed to help semi-conductive compound formulators achieve long cable life.
