Enova^TM aerogel is a highly effective matting agent, especially in difficult to matte coatings formulations like  100% solid UV-cured coatings. High performance at very low loading levels enables greater formulations flexibility and reduces the performance degradation common with matting additives that need to be used in larger quantities. Due in part to its extremely high surface area and complete hydrophobicity, Enova^TM aerogel disperses uniformly throughout the coating, providing more random light scattering on the coating surface. The translucency and low refractive index of Enova^TM particles allow formulators to achieve a below 10 at a 60° gloss reading with very low haze.

 

In addition to its effectiveness as a matting agent, Enova^TM aerogel is extremely hydrophobic, making it ideal for moisture-sensitive systems. No other matting agent can claim this level of water resistance.

 

With the current regulator push to move away from solvent-borne systems, Enova^TM aerogel becomes the ideal matting agent for low gloss formulations. Requiring only a few percent by weight to achieve sub 10 gloss at 60°, Enova^TM aerogel enables solvent-borne performance in 100% solids UV-curable systems.
