Sr. Research Associate (#2010-002)

Applicant must be able to carry out laboratory scale experimental R&D work and sample preparation and characterization, supporting customer focused product development in the Performance Segment. Work will include surface modification and characterization of pigments and particles, performance characterization method development and implementation in specialty applications, and documentation/communication of procedures and results. Applicant must be able to work independently in the design and implementation of new technical solutions to existing customer demands. Applicant must be able to manage major/minor project components of large customer development programs. 85% lab support for development and performance characterization of specialty materials. 15% results documentation, communication, and laboratory maintenance.

- Experience with polymer science, colloidal systems, organic synthesis and purification. - Experience with carbon black and colored pigment dispersions in aqueous and solvent systems. - Familiarity with analytical chemistry and materials characterization methods and techniques. - Independent, dedicated, and motivated person who is eager to learn and will quickly take ownership of a project and work with minimal supervision. - Ability to lead sub components of larger customer product development programs. - Ability to lead of a smaller group of ones peers.

BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Materials Science (preferably with 2+ years job experience). MS candidates preferred but not required.
